Another world, is it?

[ The feed comes on to show a young woman's face on the screen, looking at the Gear with an idle sort of wonder. In her other hand is a common, and familiar, handbook, one which she quickly glances back to as soon as the Gear is turned on. Seems like someone is trying to make sense of all this... technical jargon. But it's somehow able to make sense. Somehow.

After several moments of silence, she snaps the handbook closed with a sigh. She brings her attention back to the Gear. ]

Is there even a point to being "the best"? [ Does it involve you going back home? ] The book doesn't mention titans, but how much is this book not telling me?

[ Skeptical? Just a bit for all that the dubiousness shows on her impassive face. ]

I need to find my friends. If anyone knows a boy named Armin-- [ Pause. No, there's too many to list. She glances down to her arm and lifts it up to show the insignia of two swords crossing over a shield. ] If anyone has seen anyone with this jacket and symbol, please inform me immediately.

As for where to go... [ She trails off. She has a journey, but no destination. And the fact that she's alo-- a small roaring sound from outside the screen lifts up her head. ]

... Right. I need to find berries, too. [ I need a distraction. ]

[ How does she even begin to describe it? Words fail her as she stands there in silence.

[ It's a dubious repeat, But then she shrugs. Probably something from her world. ]

[ She's not trying to brag, she just doesn't know what else to call them. ]

They were going to eat a little girl.

I believe you.

[ Which might not mean much with her impassive tone, but she does. She faces her own giant monstrosities in her world. With fangs. ]

That was brave of you.

It needed to be done or else she would have died.

[ Bravery, courage: these are things she doesn't believe herself capable of. Simply, she acts when she needs to. ]

You didn't consider you might end up that way?

[ A curious note. It just reminds her vaguely of her own ways: sometimes you do things because you can. ]

No, because I am free now.

[ It makes no sense out of context. To her, she was a slave and unable to fight for what she believed in. Being able to break free of those shackles gave her the chance. ]

I can fight, so I will live.

[ Her words bring a certain kind of expression on Mikasa's face. An uplifting memory. A pleasant expression shows on her face, and for a moment, her eyes look kind. ]

Good. That's the only way anyone can get out of situations like those.

[ Somehow silent connection mind link??? ]

Do you fight as well, miss? [ It feels good to fight for what she believes in, so maybe it's the same for her? ]

[ And at this point, she kind of has to keep on going and fighting. Eren wouldn't have her doing anything else. ]

I serve the people who need my protection.

[ Correction. As if the privileged elite cared enough. ]

I plan to be. Right now, I'm their sword and shield.
