Another world, is it?

[ The feed comes on to show a young woman's face on the screen, looking at the Gear with an idle sort of wonder. In her other hand is a common, and familiar, handbook, one which she quickly glances back to as soon as the Gear is turned on. Seems like someone is trying to make sense of all this... technical jargon. But it's somehow able to make sense. Somehow.

After several moments of silence, she snaps the handbook closed with a sigh. She brings her attention back to the Gear. ]

Is there even a point to being "the best"? [ Does it involve you going back home? ] The book doesn't mention titans, but how much is this book not telling me?

[ Skeptical? Just a bit for all that the dubiousness shows on her impassive face. ]

I need to find my friends. If anyone knows a boy named Armin-- [ Pause. No, there's too many to list. She glances down to her arm and lifts it up to show the insignia of two swords crossing over a shield. ] If anyone has seen anyone with this jacket and symbol, please inform me immediately.

As for where to go... [ She trails off. She has a journey, but no destination. And the fact that she's alo-- a small roaring sound from outside the screen lifts up her head. ]

... Right. I need to find berries, too. [ I need a distraction. ]

[ She kinda needs a distraction, Kayneth, can you tell? Things happen, titans eat and people die. Why is that not happening now. ]

What sort of legends?

Well, that's the gist of it, really.

In one mythological tradition, they were deities born of Uranus, the heavens, and Gaia, the earth. The youngest of them, Cronus, overthrew their father and became the king of the Titans-but was himself overthrown by Zeus before humans even came into existence, despite doing his best to avoid this fate in a rather... gruesome manner.

[ This isn't some legend she's familiar with in her world. "Gruesome manner" probably meant he tried to eat his own children to prevent being overthrown. Her brow furrows at that.

Still, it's a guess, and she'd be better corrected than take her own assumption. ]

He tried to eat Zeus.

[...wow spot on, actually...]

...Yes, though he was tricked into eating a rock instead. He was admittedly more successful with Zeus's older siblings, but, well, given that they were gods, they turned out alright in the end.

[ If they're talking about titans, she had to try and guess to see if there were still some similarities between the ones she knows and the ones that are possibly outside other peoples' worlds. ~~Also 9/10 intelligence, woop woop.~~ ]

Aren't they all titans? [ Titans were gods in this myth? ]

No, though the difference really just boils down to them being different factions. When Zeus began battling the titans, his base of operation was Mount Olympus, so his faction became known as the Olympians. The titans themselves were named by their father Ouranos after their rebellion against him-there are theories that the name was derived from the Greek word that means "to stretch," as they were completely unfettered in how they stretched out their power.

[ She's quiet for a moment. Being a part of a faction still leaves that underlying fact that Zeus came from Cronus, which brings to mind the abnormal titan... ]

There was a titan back in my world who was murdering his fellow titans.

[ Like Zeus seems to be doing in this story. ]

He seemed to have knowledge of hand-to-hand combat and was not interested in humans. The abnormal titan reminds me of this Zeus.

I see... and that's something totally unique in your world? Perhaps you're on the cusp of the War of the Titans and this new titan will be victorious.

Of course, like I said, the legends of my world state that this war occurred before humans came into existence and none of the participants could actually be killed, only imprisoned somehow... so your situation is already vastly different.

So it is. Still, the similarities are something to note. I know a friend of mine who would be interested in analyzing more in depth on the legends of your world as much as mine.

[ Pause. ]

If he ever comes here.

Hopefully that will happen. This world has its myriad flaws, but if nothing else, it's far more peaceful than the one you're from.

[ Skeptical frowning now. She's never met many noble people before, but even someone with just a few more privilege than others can get a pretty fat head on their shoulders. ]

[ugh please tell him you're not one of those revolutionary types]

[ Her expression is still pretty even. ]

I've never met any noblemen before. Yet you don't seem like the ones I've heard about.

[ Seems more like a scholar than... well, a haughty and selfish highborn. ]

I see... well, I can't claim to know what's been said about yours, but my particular brand of nobility has more to do with dedication to thaumaturgical study than anything else.

[...but no, he really is like that. He is just also a scholar.]

Thaumaturgical- [ Give her a moment. It's such a foreign word around her tongue. ] -study?

Yes-the study of various arts that I'll refer to as magical for simplicity's sake. I have no idea if that sort of thing exists in your world or to what extent, so forgive me if it sounds somewhat strange to you.

[ She shakes her head. ]

Just magic, but even I've never seen that, too. Whatever took us here might be from magical means.

I've been assuming that from day one, though I haven't been able to figure out what form it takes yet. There are some legends that may explain it, but I haven't been able to find much concrete information on them.

Legends from this world or your own? [ Pause. ] Though, even if you did find some connection, I hear many people "weakened" on arrival.

I really doubt the legends of my own have any bearing on my presence here for various reasons, so... this world's, definitely.

...and, well, I'm quite aware of the fact that the majority of us were weakened...

It sounds like most of the people that arrived here had some supernatural ability before coming here.

[ Is her observation. For her part, she... really didn't feel all that different. ]
